Abstract
1285075 Oxidation catalyst MITSUBISHI KASEI KOGYO KK 13 Oct 1969 [15 Oct 1968 27 Nov 1968] 50175/69 Heading B1E [Also in Division C2] A particulate catalyst composition is formed by (i) preparing a mixture containing a vanadium compound; a phosphorus compound and an aqueous silica sol, (ii) spray drying the mixture and (iii) calcining, preferably at 200- 750‹C. The vanadium compound and the phosphorus compound used both are capable of being decomposed into their oxides by calcination. The mixture of compounds of step (i) may be a suspension or a solution, and oxalic acid may be added to bring the vanadium component into solution. The silica sol may be gelled to a small extent. The composition may also contain Ti, K, Cr, W, Mo, Co, B or Ni which are incorporated into the mixture before spray drying. The catalyst composition suitably has atomic ratios of components V:P:Si:Ti (if present) of 1:0.7-4:0.5-120:0.5-120. Suitably, the mean diameter of the particles is from 60-200 microns.
