Abstract

1,273,561. Endless passenger-conveyers. BTR INDUSTRIES Ltd. 23 July, 1969 [23 July, 1968], No. 35092/68. Heading B8A. A passenger conveyer, which is to have a decreased speed at positions where passengers board and/or alight, comprises rigid links 1 alternating with links 3 of a flexible material. The forward end of each link 3 is secured to the rearward end of the adjacent downstream rigid link 1. The link 3 passes over a pulley 4 carried on brackets 12 of the adjacent upstream link 1, and is secured to a member 5 carrying a cam follower 6. Each link 1 carries rollers 2, 2A, running in guides 7. The follower 6 runs in guides 8. By varying the relative inclination of the guides 7 and 8, the conveyer speed is varied. The links 1 and 3 may be ribbed for engagement with comb teeth at ends of the passenger carrying part of the conveyer. The links 3 may be of reinforced rubber stiffened by the inclusion of laterally disposed metal rods or tubes 9, or may be of rubber coated thin sheet.
