Abstract

1,273,453. Fluid pressure jacks. CESKOSLOVENSKY URANOVY PRUMYSL OBOROVY PODNIK GENERALNI REDITELSTVI. 2 Oct., 1970 [9 Oct., 1969], No. 46868/70. Heading B8J. A jack for lifting an underground transfer conveyer with a frame 1 and endless belt 3 comprises a housing 6 with fluid pressure connections 17, 18 below and above a hollow piston 8 sliding therein. An aperture 19 interconnects the upper part of the cylinder 8 to the upper part of the housing 6. The piston 8 has a hollow extension 9 passing through a seal 16 in a support plate 7a mounting the housing and a tubular member 7. A cylinder 23 is mounted on the member 7 and has a piston 21 with an abutment 20 normally urged by a spring 22 into engagement with one of a series of notches on the extension 9 to lock the extension 9 to the member and thus hold the piston 8 fixed in the housing 6. A piston 10 slides in the piston 8 and has a hollow piston-rod 11 extending therefrom through the member 7 and with a groundengaging foot 12. The piston 10 is urged to its uppermost position in the cylinder 8 by a spring 13. The jacks are attached in pairs to sections of the conveyer by pairs of struts la. In the transport position brackets 25 attached to the housings 6 engage the tops of mine cars 26 as shown in Fig. 3. At the desired position cylinder 23 is pressurized, releasing the extension 9 allowing the piston 8 and piston 10 to drop under gravity until the foot 12 contacts the ground. The cylinder 23 is then vented and piston 8 thus locked with respect to the housing 6. Pressure fluid is then supplied to connection 18 causing the piston 10 to move from the top to the bottom of the piston 8 lifting the conveyer a fixed amount, the initial free fall of the foot 12 compensating for any unevenness in the ground, Fig. 5 (not shown). The jack is completely retracted for transport by venting connection 18 and supplying pressure fluid to connections 24 and 17 to release the lock and lift the piston 8, the piston 10 being returned to the top of the piston 8 by the spring 13. The connections 17 and 24 are then vented, the spring 22 locking the piston 8 in position at the top of the housing 6.
