Abstract
1,272,377. Wells &c. TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP. 9 April, 1971, No. 9147/71. Heading E1F. Oil is produced from an underground reservoir by: (a) producing the reservoir by solution gas drive; (b) terminating the solution gas drive when the pressure of the reservoir is below the bubble point pressure but within the critical gas saturation; (c) injecting water into the reservoirwhile maintaining reservoir pressure and simultaneously producing the reservoir; (d) terminating the water injection when the rate of oil production has reached a predetermined termination point; (e) producing the reservoir by solution gas drive; (f) terminating the gas drive when the pressure of the reservoir is below the bubble point pressure but within the critical gas saturation; (g) injecting water into the reservoir while maintaining reservoir pressure and simultaneously producing the reservoir; (h) terminating the water injection at a predetermined point; and (i) repeating steps (a)..(h) until the abandonment pressure of the reservoir is reached. The predetermined points are indicated by a rapid rise in water production compared with the rate of oil production. Where the reservoir is undersaturated the step of solution gas drive is preceded by gas injection into the reservoir to establish a gas saturated reservoir capable of solution gas drive. Thickeners may be mixed with the injection water.
