Abstract

1,272,289. Injection moulding machines; presses. MASCHINENFABRIK UND GIESSEREI NETSTAL A.G. 5 May, 1969 [7 May, 1968], No. 22843/69. Headings B5A and B5F. In an injection moulding or like machine comprising mould carrying plates 4, 5, a support plate 1, tie rods 2 and mould closing mechanism 3, means are provided on each tie rod to give a control signal if a predetermined loading of the tie rod is exceeded. In Fig. 1 a bar 7 located in a bore in a tie rod 2 is fixed to the tie rod at one end while the other end of the bar is adapted to actuate a switch 8 when a predetermined elongation of the tie rod is exceeded. The switch 8 is fixed to a stop nut 6 threaded on the tie rod 2 and is electrically connected to a relay 9 in a control or warning device. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the bar (17) is located parallel to and outside the tie rod. In Figs. 3a, 3b (not shown) pairs of strain gauges (3Oa, 30b) are arranged axially and peripherally on a bar (27) housed within a tie rod (22) or on the tie rod itself. The gauges (30a) respond to elongation of the tie rod (22) while the gauges (30b) compensate for temperature expansion. The gauges (30a, 30b) are connected to a Wheatstone bridge (31) Fig.3c (not shown), which is connected through an amplifying device (32) to a relay. In Fig. 4 a piston 47 is arranged between a mould carrying plate 45 and the end of the tie rod 42, the cylinder 47b of the piston 47 being connected through a valve 50 to a pressure source 51 and also to a pressure switch 48 linked to a relay 9.
