Abstract

[Also in Division G3] A gas delivery apparatus includes a delivery duct 13, a sliding tube 18, a first inlet 11 for a first gas and a second inlet 15 for a second gas which admixes with the first gas, resilient means 19 urging the tube 18 to close off the second inlet, and a tapping 21 whereby gas from the first inlet may overcome the resilient means to keep the second inlet open. The apparatus may be used to supply oxygen admixed with air to an aviator from ground level to, say, 35,000 ft. when a pressure responsive valve 26 is opened to release gas from a space 22 and allow the tube 18 to close the second inlet so that pure oxygen is supplied to the duct 13. The tube may also be controlled by a manually operated bleed valve 25. The oxygen passes into the delivery duct by way of a demand valve 14.
