In rail vehicles, in which the angle of tilt # (to counteract the centrifugal forces arising on curves) of the body 1 relatively to the bogie 3 is structurally limited to a maximum # max = I M , which is less than the value of the angle of tilt I, required for complete counteraction of the centrifugal forces, the tilting action is damped, so that the attainment of the maximum available angle of tilt I M is postponed until the point Q, on the curved track, at which the radius of curvature becomes constant. A first detector 7 of the accelerometer type gives a signal proportional to I and a second detector 8 gives a signal proportional to #. The signal I is fed to a threshold device 9 whose output is proportional to I, but does not exceed I M . These outputs are fed into comparator 10, whose output is propor. tional to the error E (= I - 0). A differentiating device 12 and a regulating device 11 provide the input signal to an electro-hydraulic distributor, which effects the necessary tilting motion.
