Abstract

1,271,939. Pill package. DANIEL GREENAWAY & SONS Ltd. 24 July, 1969 [21 June, 1968], No. 29722/68. Heading B8C. A method of sealing pills into a pack comprises cutting openings in a sheet of card coated on one side with a heat responsive adhesive, enclosing the pills between sheets of covering material and placing them on the coated side of the card, folding the card back upon itself so that each pill is located within a pair of aligned openings whilst the covering sheets are held between the facing coated surfaces of the card, and then applying pressure and heat to the folded card to cause at least the edges of the contacting coated surfaces of the card to adhere to one another. The covering sheets are made from a transparent material and/or a metallic foil which preferably are such that the pills can be manually pressed through them. An extended portion of the card, folded over upon itself to provide a double thickness, is folded downwardly over the packed pills. The operation of cutting the openings for a number of packs may be performed on a single sheet of card (Figs. 1 and 2) which is subsequently cut to provide a plurality of cards (Fig. 3) for individual packs. The preferred method includes printing on the uncoated face of the card prior to cutting the opening or openings. The card is a high gloss white coated enamel board.
