Abstract

1,271,270. Ceramic article manufacture. WILLIAM BOULTON Ltd. 27 Nov., 1970 [11 Dec., 1969], No. 60552/69. Heading B5A. [Also in Division C1] A water-filled vessel 10 receives scrap clay and defective articles from one or a number of clay ware forming or finishing machines 14 via belt conveyer 54 and reduces them to a reuseable slip, which is then conveyed via pipe 38 to a slip house, by agitation by a vertical shaft 24 with radial blades 26 which is rotatably driven by motor 28 and reduction gear 30. The scrap passes through coarse mesh 22, is broken up and the resulting slip passes through fine mesh 22a and over weir 20. A submerged sump centrifugal pump 34 pumps slip into pipe 32. Valve 52 controls the flow of water into vessel 10 relative to quantity of scrap, so controlling the S.G. of the slurry in vessel 10.
