Abstract

1,270,490. Screening apparatus. HARSCO CORP. 23 Oct., 1970 [17 Nov., 1969], No. 50442/70. Heading B2H. An apparatus for removing oversize pieces from a mass of particulate material comprises a grid assembly 13, 21, Figs. 1 and 2 on to which the material is dumped, a frame 10 supporting the grid assembly and a discharge hopper 28 and a conveyor 29 extending beneath the grid, the grid assembly being pivotably connected at one end to the frame 10 for rotation about a horizontal axis and force applying means, e.g. one or more telescoping hydraulic cylinders 19, being provided between the frame 10 and the grid assembly 13, 21 for tilting the latter, Fig. 7, whereby the portion of material retained by the grid is caused to be removed to a location away from the conveyor 29. The grid 21 which consists of two right-angled sets of spaced parallel rods 24 and 25 mounted in a frame 13 is supported on short lengths of angle 26 and are retained in position by keepers 27. The grid 21 may be normally supported in a slightly inclined position.
