Abstract

1291555 Screening apparatus ECONOFUEL Ltd 30 Dec 1970 [15 Jan 1970] 1959/70 Heading B2H [Also in Division E1] An apparatus for screening loose material, e.g. coal, limestone &c. comprises a bucket, means for mounting the bucket on the hydraulic lifting arms 26, 32 of a caterpillar tracked vehicle, at least two sides 16, 18 and the base 10 of the bucket having a grid structure and the edge of the side 18 remote from the base 10 being a cutting edge. The grid structure is formed by a number of interlocking longitudinal rods and transverse struts, alternate rods of the sides 16, 18 being removable to vary the grid area. In addition the grid area may be reduced by placing screen cloths against the grid structure. The bucket is pivotally mounted on the arms 26 and is tiltable about its point of attachment by the arms 32 on which the bucket is also pivotally mounted. In use, screenable material is placed in the bucket by passing the cutting edge 24 into a pile of the material. The bucket is then raised above the ground level by the arms 26 and its position adjusted by the arms 32 so that its side 18 is substantially horizontal. The bucket is then tilted rapidly back and forth so that the material is screened through the grid structure of the side 18, e.g. into the back of a lorry.
