[Also in Division G1] Thrust, e.g. that produced by a jet engine, is converted by a variable-resistance strain gauge 10, 12, and a voltage-to-frequency converter 24, into a pulse train of corresponding frequency, and the pulses, after division by 10 or by 20, in accordance with the setting of a range switch 37, are counted 40, displayed and recorded, either for fixed periods, e.g. half-second periods, or for periods determined by pulses from a fuel flow meter 46 in order to measure thrust as a function of fuel consumed. The frequency significant pulse train also passes via a diode pump 30 to provide on a meter 32 a continuous indication of thrust.
