Abstract

1,268,876. Sifting device. P. RONCAGLIA. 9 June, 1969 [16 Dec., 1968], No. 29126/69. Heading B2H. A sifting device comprises a housing having inlet 3 and outlet 12 passages for air carrying the material to be sifted, such as flour, a screen carried in guides 4 intermediate the passages, and brushes 7 movable over the screen surface. The screen may be secured to hand-operated rollers a, b. The brushes are either reciprocated by a pneumatic cylinder 11 or solenoid, or are mounted on an endless band (Fig. 2, not shown). Electromagnetic vibrators c may be attached to the brushes. An idly-mounted propeller 5 may be arranged to rotate in the air current, thus breaking it into pulses which cause the screen to shake, and promote the cleaning action.
