Abstract

1,268,650. Two part couplings. LIGHT & POWER ACCESSORIES CO. Ltd. 14 May, 1970 [26 Feb., 1969], No. 10256/69. Heading H2E. An electrical outlet socket comprises a sub assembly of two insulating material blocks, 2, 3, the former housing contact elements 7 mounted on the latter, two leaf spring earth contacts 14 carried by an arcuate metal strip 13 mounted in a channel 12 formed by rebate 11 and shoulder 10, a sleeve 19 (Fig. 4) and a housing 24 (Fig. 4) enclosing the sub assembly. When an associated plug is engaged with the socket a metal shirt with which it is provided engages with earth contacts 14. Recesses 29 and 26 (Fig. 4) secure correct orientation of said plug. Flats 22 may be provided on the blocks to facilate correct alignment and recess on part 19 may be provided to engage with an internal shoulder in the sleeve, the sleeve being secured by nylon pins passing through the shoulder.
