Abstract

1,267,970. Delivering measured quantities of liquids. POLITECHNIKA KRAKOWSKA KATEDRA SILNIKOW SPALINOWYCH KRAKOW. 17 June, 1969 [17 June, 1968], No. 30705/69. Heading B8N. [Also in Division F1] In apparatus for transferring a measured quantity of liquid, e.g. fuel from a fuel supply pipe, between an inlet 2 and an outlet 4, to a gas flowpipe between an inlet 3 and outlet 5, the volume of liquid transferred may be adjusted. The apparatus comprises a body 6 rotatable within a housing 1 containing the fuel and gas inlets and outlets, 2-5. In one embodiment, Figs. 2, 3, the fuel is transferred in a passage 18 in the body 6, one wall of the passage consisting of the end face of a plunger 7, slidable within the body and connected to a crosshead 16. In a second embodiment, Fig. 5, the volume of liquid transferred is varied by providing a number of fixed passages 8-13, the number of passages utilized on an axially slidable member 6, at any one time, i.e. within the conduit space, controlling the volume of fuel transferred. Further, a third embodiment, Fig. 7, comprises parallel transverse notches 8-15, Fig. 8 (not shown), instead of passages, the fuel inlet 2 and outlet 4, being adjacent and the gas inlet 3 and outlet 5 also being adjacent. The apparatus is used for periodic pneumatic injection of fuel in conventional piston engines.
