Abstract

1,267,613. Toilet seats; toilet seat hinges. AMERICAN STANDARD Inc. 24 Feb., 1970, No. 8743/70. Headings E1C and E2F. A toilet seat and a cover therefor are both pivotally mounted on a post 50 by means of a detachable pivot. pin 30 with an enlarged bifurcated end which passes through aligned holes in lugs on the seat and cover and in the post. The bifurcated end of the pin has two projections 33 and 34 which locate the pin but allow withdrawal. A sleeve 119 may be used to line part of the bore 124 in the seat in a further embodiment (Fig. 10), thus providing an abutment for the enlarged, bifurcated end of the pin. The sleeve may have a peripheral locating flange (142), Fig. 13 (not shown) at one end, and the bore 124 may be opened out somewhat to receive the sleeve, Fig. 15 (not shown). The post may incorporate a cover (190), Fig. 19 (not shown) for the head of the seat fixing shaft 54. The seat slopes down from the back, and has its lower rim lower than the bowl rim. Bumpers are incorporated under the seat and the cover.
