Abstract
1,267,418. Soldering irons. COMPANION HEATERS PTY. Ltd. 15 Dec., 1969 [13 Dec., 1968], No. 60924/69. Heading B3R. A gas-fired soldering iron has a burner element 4 and a bit element 1 having a rearwardly extending skirt 13 forming a cavity 14 and grooves 16 over which extends a tube 3 to form forwardly extending passages which communicate with the cavity to allow egress of the flame and exhaust gases therefrom. The bit 1 is connected by means of a tube 3 to the burner element 4 which comprises an inner tube 9, a nipple 6, gauze element 7 and flange 8 and the element 4 is in turn connected via a flange nut 5 to a gas supply line. A suitable hand piece is connected to the nut 5. The inner tube 9 is provided with air holes 11. Gas is allowed to escape via ports 18 in the tube 3. Air holes 19 are provided in the tube 3 and holes 20 are provided for support means. A wire gauze retention element 21 may be provided in the burner element to provide a low flame.
