1,267,282. Medicines comprising coumermycin derivatives. F. HOFFMANN-LA ROCHE & CO. A.G. 20 Aug., 1970 [29 Aug., 1969], No. 40071/70. Heading A5B. Pharmaceutical antibacterial compositions comprise a compound of general formula: wherein R is H or Me and Ar is a group: wherein each of R<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>5</SP> and R<SP>6</SP> represents H, halogen, -CF 3 , -CCl 3 , amino, N-(lower alkyl) amino, N,N-di-(lower alkyl) amino, -NO 2 , -CN, lower alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl, lower alkoxy, -OH, carboxamido, N-(lower alkyl) carboxamido, N,N - di(lower alkyl) carboxamido, carboxy, carb-(lower alkoxy), acetoxy mercapto, thioacetoxy or lower alkylthio (lower denoting up to 8 carbon atoms) or a salt thereof and N-methylglucamine. They may be in conventional oral solid and liquid forms which, optionally, may comprise additional medicaments, e.g. sulphonamides, antibiotics, hormones, laxatives, sedatives, analgesics, antihistamines and stimulants, examples of which are given.
