Abstract
1,266,863. Boots, &c. BAKELITE XYLONITE Ltd. 15 May, 1969 [20 May, 1968], No. 23849/68. Heading A3B. [Also in Division C3] Soles for footwear are made by moulding an expanded vinyl chloride polymer composition made by heating a mixture of (i) a vinyl chloride polymer (ii) a plasticiser and (iii) a mixture of blowing agents comprising a major amount by wt. of at least one blowing agent which in a specified test decomposes at 160‹C and 190‹C to give specified reductions in S.G. of a specified composition and a minor amount by wt. of at least one blowing agent which is defined in terms of the above test and decomposes at a lower temperature. In the examples a mixture of polyvinylchloride or vinyl chloride/acetate copolymer, nitrile rubber, dioctyl and dibutyl phthalates, barium/cadmium complex, epoxidised soya bean oil, stearic acid, an alkyl sulphonic acid ester of a phenol/ cresol mixture, tribasic lead sulphate and carbon black was expanded using p-toluene sulphonyl semicarbazide and azoolicarbonamide as blowing agents and was used to form the soles of slippers and shoes by injection moulding (in examples IV and VIII).
