Abstract
1,266,565. Electromechanical filters. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. 23 April, 1969 [24 April, 1968], No. 20678/69. Heading H3U. A filter which may have a broad pass-band characteristic comprises a quartz crystal wafer 44 having eight pairs of electrodes 12, 14 ... 40, 42 deposited on its upper and lower surfaces. The input S is connected to electrode pair 12, 14 and to a tuning inductor L i , and the load R o is connected to electrode pair 40, 42 and to a tuning inductor L o . The electrode pairs 16, 18 ... 36, 38 are short-circuited and connected to earth. The resonators formed by the electrode pairs 12, 14 ... 40, 42 are acoustically coupled by the wafer 44 and, as described, are tuned to resonate at the same frequency. In a modification (Fig. 6, not shown) the electrode pairs 16, 18 ... 36, 38 are open-circuited and one electrode of each pair is connected to one of the lines extending between the filter input and output.
