Abstract

A hollow generally I section girder, wherein the thickness of the web 2 decreases progressively from the end portions 1, 1' to the central portion 3 of the web and wherein the curvature of each of the walls of the web is equal and oppositely directed, is made up of two identical flexible flanged half members fixed to each other at their central portions 3 and at each flange junction 4, 5. The hollow girder may be formed from reinforced plastics material and may be linear, curved, tapered or twisted along its length.
