Abstract

1,266,215. Supporting cable drums. FOLKE HILDEMAR AWEBRO. 4 Nov., 1969 [5 Nov., 1968], No. 54029/69. Heading B8H. Apparatus for supporting and transporting a cable drum 10 comprises two support wheels 16, 17 detachably interconnected by a centre shaft 22 with which they can be engaged in an assembled position, each wheel being provided with a hub member 19 carrying a bearing sleeve 21 received in the centre hole of the cable drum to support the drum on the assembled wheels. Each support wheel has its circumference formed by mutually detachable first and second sections 27, 28. The first section 27 has the hub member 19 secured to it and is mountable on the cable drum 10 while the drum rests on the ground 18 (Fig. 5). The second section 28 is attachable to the first section 27 to complete the circumference, after the first section and the drum have been rotated so that the drum is clear of the ground (Fig. 7). Each wheel 16, 17 preferably comprises two parallel spaced tubes 31, 32 engaging elements being provided at the ends of the sections 27, 28 to relatively locate the sections in the assembled position. Radially extending axially spaced plates 25, 26 are provided on the hub member 19 of the first section 27, and the second section 28 is provided with an arcuate plate 34 which is locked to the plate 26 by means of a screw 37. Radially extending spacer elements 24 are provided between the cable drum 10 and the wheels 16, 17. The sleeve 21 is preferably freely rotatable on its hub member 19.
