[Also in Division F4] A shrink-wrap film heating apparatus comprises a shrinkage chamber 9 to which hot air can be admitted and which is opened when stacked goods loosely shrouded in film are inserted and is closed while hot air is fed to the film, a heater space 10 housing an air heater 21 and a fan 19, the heater space 10 communicating with an air inlet duct 18 and an air outlet duct 12 serving the shrinkage chamber 9, and cut-off devices 38, 16 for the ducts, which can close the connections between the heater space and the shrinkage chamber and open a duct 14 for circulating the air within the heater space when the shrinkage chamber is open, the shrinkage chamber being formed by a hood 5 which is fitted at one side of the heater space 10 and can be pivoted upwardly to open the chamber. As shown, the floor of the chamber 9 is formed by a trolley 25, a number of which are arranged in succession to form an endless conveyer running on top rails 28, 29 and on bottom rails (not shown). Each trolley is provided with a stop 32 for the goods 31 and with trunking 35 communicating with the hollow bottom of the trolley and with the cut-off device 38. In use, the hood 5 is closed over the goods 31, and with the devices 38, 16 in the solid-line position, hot air is circulated through adjustable shutters 24 around the goods to raise the temperature of the shrinkwrap film to the desired level. Thereafter the hood 5 is raised and the devices 38, 16 moved to the dotted line position to allow the heated goods 31 to cool before being replaced by goods on the next trolley to be run into the chamber 9.
