1,265,565. Agglomerating latices. CHEMISCHE WERKE HULS A.G. 18 July, 1969 [20 July, 1968], No. 36226/69. Heading C3P. An aqueous dispersion of a synthetic rubber containing carboxyl groups and having a content of free emulsifier of 0À1-3À5% based on latex solids is treated by firstly neutralizing 10-55% of the carboxylic groups in the synthetic rubber and then by agglomerating the dispersion. The neutralization may be carried out using ammonia and the agglomeration may be carried out in the presence of a particle enlarging substance, e.g. oxidized polyethylene oxide.
