[Also in Divisions G2-G3] Na 2 S 2 O 3 and then I 2 are reacted with meth. anolic 3-chloropropyl-dimethylamine-HBr, and the reaction product treated with NaOH to form bis - (dimethylaminopropyl) disulphide which is then quaternized with methyl-p-toluenesulphonate or benzyl chloride to bis-(trimethylammonium-propyl)-disulphide bis-tosylate or bis- (dimethylbenzylammonium - propyl) - disulphide dichloride. Other compounds of the formula where each R is C 1-6 alkyl or the two R groups may form with the N a 5-7 membered ring which may contain a further hetero-atom, R<SP>1</SP> is C 1-6 alkyl which may be substituted, n is 1-6 and X- is an anion, may be similarly prepared.
