Abstract

126,394. Vickers, Ltd., and Webb, G. W. C. Jan. 29, 1917. Thermo-aluminic and like mixtures of metals such as aluminium and magnesium, with oxygen yielding materials such as nitrates and peroxides, and organic combustible materials such as paraffin wax and resin, are mixed with oxides or carbonates of alkaline earth metals such as magnesium, calcium, and barium, and are then made into cakes by pressure or by slaking with water. One example contains magnesium oxide 1.1 part, waxcoated magnesium 3.7 parts, barium nitrate 7 parts, and sufficient water to make the mixture set.
