Abstract

126,373. Sherman, C. C., and Mock, H. O. July 27, 1916. Anchors and grapnels. - Relates to anchors, grapnels, and the like of the kind having pivoted flukes as described in Specification 125,085. According to the present invention, the flukes 4 are pivoted to the shank 7 and connected by links 21 to a body 1 sliding on the shank. The body and shank are connected together at their upper ends by links 24 to which the chain is attached at 25. The flukes have recesses 6<1> to engage prejections 23 and to lock them in an open position. In a modification, shown in Fig. 5, the body 1 is connected to the shank 7 bv a lever 27 which contacts with the hawser pipe 30, when the anchor is being weighed, and closes the flukes. A cone 29 may be fitted on the shank above the lever 27.
