Abstract
1,263,467. Making filters. DARCHEM ENG. Ltd. 11 April, 1969 [1 May, 1968; 17 May, 1968; 25 Nov., 1968], Nos. 20649/68, 23572/68 and 55739/68. Heading B3A. [Also in Divisions C7 and D1] A porous shaped metal structure suitable for filters and sound insulation comprises a random mass of helically wound wire or wires, e.g. stainless steel, 0À0005-0À125 inch diameter, compacted to the required shape. Preferably a Ni based brazing alloy powder is mixed with the wires and the mixture is compacted to sheet form which is then sintered in vacuum above the melting temperature of the brazing alloy. Alternatively the brazing powder may be dusted on one or both faces of the partially compacted or fully compacted mass of wires and then sintered.
