Abstract

1,263,186. Mechanical figure. L. E. BALDWIN. 10 March, 1970 [12 March, 1969], No. 13147/69. Headings A6H and A6S. A mechanical figure has a body 1 and legs 2 and 3. The body 1 is hollow and has two internal transverse webs 4 and 5, having vertically aligned apertures 4a and 5a. Secured to the top of leg 2 is a plunger 6, slidably mounted in the apertures 4a and 5a, and having a shoulder 6a, to limit downward movement of the leg 2. Upward movement of the plunger 6, against the action of spring 7 is limited by shoulder 2a and web 5. The leg 2 is formed with a boss 2b carrying a transverse pin 8. The other leg 3 has an apertured boss 3a, so that it is pivoted on pin 8, and a cam 3b which engages the underside of web 5. Thus, when the body I is pressed downwards, the leg 2 telescopes within the body, displacing the pin 8 towards the web 5. The cam 3b then slides to the rear of the underside of web 5, thereby swinging leg 3 forwards. When the pressure is released, due to the action of spring 7 and the weight of the leg 3, the leg returns to its original position. The figure may be mounted on a stand 9.
