Abstract
1,262,163. Cold light mirrors. BALZERS PATENT-UND BETEILIGUNGS AG. June 6, 1969 [July 25, 1968], No.28814/69. Heading G2J. A cold light mirror comprises a base which is permeable to heat radiation and which has deposited thereon in succession a first silicon layer and interference layers of alternate high and low refractive index wherein each layer has an optical thickness of a quarter of the mean wavelength (550 mÁ) of the visible range of the spectrum and wherein on the first silicon layer at least one further silicon layer is deposited separated from the first silicon layer by a layer of lower refractive index. In a first embodiment the layers consist from the base of Si, SiO 2 , Si, SiO 2 and TiO 2 . In a second embodiment, the SiO 2 layers are replaced by magnesium fluoride.
