Abstract

1,261,890. Carding machines. CARDING SPECIALISTS (CANADA) Ltd. 11 Feb., 1969 [21 Feb., 1968], No. 8372/68. Heading D1N. The axle of a main carding cylinder 10 is carried by bearing blocks 12 to which bends 22 are rigidly secured, the block 12 being mounted on the carding engine frame 21 so as to permit swivelling movement thereof about longitudinal and vertical axes, the axle ends being constrained against movement relative to the bearing blocks. The bend 22 may be formed integrally with the bearing block 12. The block 12 may carry a swivel pin 16 which extends into a base block 15 mounted about axis 19 and carried by the frame 21. Alternatively the bearing block may be provided with diametrically opposed part spherical seatings located on a housing (25) directly attached to the frame (21), a locating pin (16) preventing axial movement of axle 11, (see Fig. 4).
