Abstract
1,261,815. Diaphragm pumps. A. HANDTMANN [trading as ALBERT HANDTMANN METALL GUSSWERK ARMATUREN UND FLEISCHEREIMASCHENFABRIK]. Sept. 2, 1969 [Sept. 3, 1968; Aug. 7, 1969], No.43464/69. Heading F1A. A device for dispensing measured quantities of fluid e.g. liquid soap from a container 1 comprises a threaded socket 4" for receiving the threaded neck of the container, a resilient tube 8 closed at its lower end by a spring type base clamp and clamped at its upper end between the socket and a hollow insert 6 screwed therein, and first and second pressure members 17, 18 adapted respectively to clamp the tube to prevent communication between the lower part of the tube and the container and to force fluid from the lower part via the hose clamp. The insert 6 includes a cutting edge which pierces a hole in a container diaphragm 5. A cam 30 or a rotatable shaft 28 co-acts with a groove in the container to hook the latter against removal from the device. The container is released by rotation of the shaft by a key adapted to fit a triangular stud 29. The pressure members may be actuated automatically by a person's hand interrupting a light beam and thus operating an electric circuit including an electromagnet 35.
