Abstract

1,261,181. Combine harvester. J. BAXTER. 23 Jan., 1969 [24 Oct., 1967; 6 Feb., 1968], Nos. 48256/67 and 5894/68. Heading A1F. A grain extraction device 10 for attachment to a combine 9 comprises two groups of interleaved tines 11, 12 for receiving discharged straw, which are relatively displaceable to agitate the straw, with elevator means 4 to return grain thus dislodged to the harvester 9. The tines 11, 12 are supported on crossbars 13, 14, having lever arms 15, 16 for opposed oscillation through rods 17, 18 attached to a pivoted lever 19. The grain elevator 4 comprises a slat-supporting belt 26 from a collecting hopper 25 to a grain pan 5, and separated grain falls onto a slatted or continuous belt conveyor 30 delivering to the hopper 25. Alternatively, the conveyor 30 may be omitted, grain entering the hopper 25 directly; further, the tines 11 may be partially covered by a plate to prevent straw from reaching the hopper 25.
