Abstract
1,261,165. Rollers. DAYCO CORP. 19 Aug., 1970 [10 Sept., 1969], No. 39859/70. Heading F2U. A roller 20, 20A has its cylindrical outer surface formed by axially adjacent annular members 41, 41A of non-magnetic material having cut-outs near the surface in which are embedded in a matrix material 62, 62A permanent magnets 46, 46A arranged with like poles of adjacent rings adjacent to define poles of alternating polarity along the length of the roller. The cut-outs may comprise annular grooves or discrete holes. The matrix material 62, 62A may be epoxy resin, metal, polyurethane. The members 41, 41A may be of stainless steel, aluminium or hard plastics. Rings 47, 47A may be of magnetic material as may be the core 23, 23A which then has a non- magnetic cover 7.
