Abstract

1,261,038. Discharge apparatus. N. WADDLETON. 4 Jan., 1969 [4 Oct., 1967], No. 44174/68. Heading H1X. [Also in Division B6] To prevent formation of an ink mist at the exit nip of metal roller 16 and rubber-covered roller 17, or of two metal rollers, a plurality of electrically conductive pointed members 24 are arranged along an ink roller nip pointing into it. The members 24 are connected electrically and have an electric field established between them and the rollers, sufficiently intense to cause the air surrounding the members to become ionized. The members 24 may be connected and supported by an aluminium tube. If an arc forms between the members 24 and the rollers the current which results causes a circuit breaker to trip and remove the voltage which establishes the electric field.
