Abstract
1,260,932. Device utilizing exhaust gases for pumping or vacuum production. K. YAMANE April 8, 1969 [April 8, 1968], No. 17836/69. Headings F1E and F1N. [Also in Division A4] A device utilizing exhaust gases for pumping comprises a tube 2 removably attached to an engine's exhaust pipe 1 and a non-return valve 16 through which the gases flow to a supply pipe 23, the pipe 23 having a connector 24 for fitting to, e. g. an inflatable article. To reduce the pressure developed in the tube 2, a transverse passage 30 in a rotary valve member 25 is brought into partial or complete registry with an exhaust port 27. The tube 2 is filled with steel wool 32 for removing impurities from the exhaust gases and a pressure gauge 18 is provided downstream of the non-return valve 16. The tube 2 shown is in two parts inter-connected by a bayonet fitting 9, 12. The device may be used to produce suction at the nozzle 38, Fig. 2, of a vacuum cleaner comprising an injector nozzle 34 having an inlet to which the connector 24 may be attached.
