Abstract

1,260,762. Mounting electric motors; motor casings. SWF SPEZIALFABRIK FUER AUTOZUBEHOER GUSTAV RAV G.m.b.H. 19 Sept., 1969 [25 Sept., 1968], No. 46277/69. Heading H2A. [Also in Divisions A4 and F1] A pumping arrangement for a washing installation in a vehicle, comprises a reservoir 11, Fig. 1, a tube 13 suspended from a closure cap 12, an electric motor 14 and pump impeller 22. The closure cap and tube are integral and preferably a plastics moulding. Pole members 18 and connectors 19 of the motor are embedded in the tube. Electrically conductive pins 38 secure carbon brushes 40 which are in contact with slip ring 39. Holes 27, 28 or a slot (35), Fig. 2 (not shown), allow the liquid in the reservoir to enter the tube, the motor being isolated from the liquid by an air cushion 36. In an alternative embodiment, the upper end of the tube is not covered by the closure cap so that, during assembly, a complete electric motor can be inserted into the tube, whereafter the upper end of the tube is sealed by, e.g. vulcanized rubber or plastics material. Moreover, the external surface of the motor casing is provided with projections (33) which co-operate with ribs (34) on the internal surface of the tube to prevent turning of the motor casing.
