Abstract

1,259,828. Cable reels; portable frame. NORSK KABELFABRIK A.S. 19 Sept., 1969 [19 Sept., 1968], No. 46362/69. Heading B8M. Reeling apparatus for cable comprises a reel rotatably mounted in a frame 1, which frame is U-shaped with two upright arms 3, 4 and a yoke 2, the yoke being shaped to be fastened alternatively to a supporting bracket on a vehicle, or to a supporting plate which can be fastened by means of straps and a belt in front of a person for carrying the apparatus. The yoke 2 carries a journal 5 which fits into a sleeve provided on the supporting bracket or supporting plate. The yoke is preferably split at 12 to allow of insertion of a reel between the arms 3, 4, one of which carries a bearing 11 and the other of which carries a drive shaft 9 connected via gearing to the shaft 7 of a crank 8. The supporting plate 28 comprises a preferably leather, flexible member 29 stiffened at the central portion by a metal plate 30. The metal plate carries the sleeve 33 in which the journal 5 of the frame is located, the journal 5 being positioned by means of a slot 5<SP>1</SP> engaging a transverse pin in the sleeve 33. The plate is supported on a person by means of a belt passing through loops 35 and shoulder straps engaging loops 36. The bracket for mounting the apparatus on a vehicle comprises a clamp 15, 16 and plate 20 supported by an arm 18. The plate 20 carries the sleeve 19 in which the journal 5 is located and prevented from removal by a pin 21. The plate 20 also carries an arm 23 having a channel member 24 in which the yoke 2 is located, the arm 23 being movable circumferentially of the plate to locate the yoke and reel relative to the vehicle.
