Description
June 28, 1966 R. H. MUNGER WIRE ROLLER Filed July so, 1964 INVENTOR United States Patent 3,258,220 WIRE ROLLER Roy H. Munger, Rte. 3, Lake (Jity, Minn. Filed July 30, 1964, Ser. No. 386,452 1 Claim. (Cl. 24296) My invention is known as the Munger Wire Roller and is used for rolling up electric fence wire. It uses only the spool that electric fence wire is sold on. The spool can be changed in less than a minute. The machine can use various sizes of spools, in diameter from 4 inches to 1 8 inches and the width of the spool can be up to a maximum of 4 /2 inches. The machine can also be changed from a right hand operation to a left hand operation by simply turning the reel crank over in the slots. The machine can use various gauges of wire including all gauges normally used for electric fences. The machine is light weighing only 7% pounds and is easy to operate. It saves time, it is not tiresome to operate and it will do in one hour what normally takes five or six hours. To use the machine the shoulder straps are placed over both shoulders then the leather belt is buckled in the back. Both the shoulder straps and the belt can be adjusted to fit the individual user To operate you simply take the end of the electric fence wire and put it through the holes in the spool, put the spool on the reel crank, put the reel crank in the slots, start cranking to wind the wire on the spool at the same time walk following the wire. The tightness of the winding -is adjusted by the speed of cranking and walking. To my knowledge no such machine now exists.
In the drawing:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the crank;
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the device without the crank; and
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the assembled device.
Shoulder straps 5 and 6 curve over the shoulders and may be adjusted to fit the operator. Main plate 7 is curved and rfits against the abdomen. Leather straps 8 and 9 are attached to the main plate and are fastened at the back of the operator. Braces 10, 111, L2 and 15 are welded to the shoulder straps and brackets 16, 14 to hold them in place. Brackets 13 and 14 support reel crank '1. Shoulder straps, 5, 6, main plate 7 and brackets 13, 14 form a unitary structure.
While I have described in my patent application the principles of my invention in connection with specific apparatus, it is to be clearly understood that this description is made only by way of example .and not as a limitation to the scope of my invention as set forth in the objects thereof, and in the accompanying claim.
I claim:
A device of the character described consisting of a frame adapted to be worn upon the body, said frame comprising a main plate slightly curved that fits against the abdomen, two shoulder straps extending from the main plate up to and curving over the shoulders, also extending forward from the main plate two brackets notched to hold the reel crank, two braces between the main plate and the two brackets, said main plate, shoulder straps and curved Ibrackets forming a unitary structure, and two braces from the brackets to the shoulder straps.
