Abstract

1,259,227. Colour television. THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 19 Aug., 1970, No. 39996/70. Heading H4F. The phase-reference signals in a PAL system colour television receiver are separated from the chrominance information signals and used for AGC of the composite chrominance amplifier by using two differential amplifiers A1, A2, A3 and A3, A4, A5. A burst gating signal VG controls the switching of current I 3 between amplifiers A4 and A5 providing burst and chrominance outputs respectively, and the burst signal amplitude is itself used to control over VX the current I3 in one limb of the differential amplifier A1, A2, A3. Fig. 3 (not shown) illustrates a realization of the circuit using transistors which is stated to be suitable for thick film or integrated circuit fabrication.
