Abstract

1,259,002. Printing apparatus. A. A. J. HUNTER. 18 Feb., 1970 [13 March, 1969], No. 1844/69. Heading B6C. A hand-operable device for printing an address or other matter by the spirit transfer method on a sheet 18, comprises (a) a chassis 1 pivoted at one end about the axis 4 of a roller 2 and having a handle 7 at the other end, and (b) a housing 3 also pivoted about the axis 4 and supporting a reservoir 8, a wetting roller 5 and a wick 10 between the reservoir and the roller 5, coil springs 13 about the axis 4 tending to depress the housing 3 and to raise the chassis 1. In operation, the apparatus is placed on the sheet 18 to be printed, and the hectograph master sheet 19 is introduced to the machine as shown after pressure has been applied to the handle 7 to depress the roller 6. The apparatus is now moved to the left so that the sheet 18 is wetted by the roller 5 and applied to the master sheet 19 by the roller 6. The master sheet may be in the form of a label detachable from a strip of such labels before an address is typed thereon.
