Abstract
1,258,591. Hydrostatic transmission. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 12 May, 1969 [11 May, 1968; 5 June, 1968], No. 23958/69. Heading F2D. In a vehicle hydrostatic transmission driven by an I.C. engine 22, adjustment of the pump 23 and the motor 24, and control of the engine fuel supply at 21, are effected by three separate cam surfaces (30), (31) and (32), Fig. 2 (not shown), on a cam 4 rotated by a manually operated lever (17) acting through a collar 15 and spring 16, and moved axially by the high pressure 27 in the hydrostatic transmission acting on one end of the cam against a spring 12. The cam surfaces are designed to give optimum efficiency of the transmission and engine. A feed pump, pressure limiting valve, and a bypass valve may be provided. The pump and motor are reversible and may be of the axial piston type having swashplates or pear-shaped housings, or of the radial piston or vane type with adjustable stroke rings. Followers 18, (19), (20) for the cam 4 are connected to their respective engine, motor and pump controls through power amplifiers, the followers being constructed as pilot control slides for hydraulic servos, or providing electrical pulses for electromagnet or hydraulic servo control. The engine regulator 21 may be a fuel injection pump for a diesel engine, or a throttle valve for a petrol engine. The cam surfaces may be axially spaced on a common shaft, Fig. 3 (not shown). Again, Fig. 5 (not shown), the engine fuel supply is controlled by an electronic speed governor (R 1 ) which receives an actual speed signal from an engine-driven tacho (52) and a desired speed signal from the cam. The cam control lever (17<SP>1</SP>) is positioned by a second speed governor (R 2 ) which receives an actual speed signal from an output-driven tacho (53) and a desired speed signal from a manual lever (54). Also, Fig. 7 (not shown), the pump and motor are non- reversible, and the second governor (R 2 ) and tacho (53) are omitted, lever (17) being directly manually positioned. In Fig. 6 (not shown) the speed of the engine is again controlled by the speed governor (R 1 ), but the lever (17<SP>1</SP>) is positioned by a torque governor (R<SP>1</SP> 2 ) which receives actual torque signals from the motor displacement position and from the high pressure in the transmission, and a desired torque signal from a manual lever (54).
