Abstract
125,823. Hodges, S. June 17, 1918. Moulds; cores; casting processes; clamping moulds.-One form of apparatus employed in the casting of linings for bearing-bushes is shown in Figs. 2, 3, and 4. The core a has a recessed flange a' between which and a ring a<2> the bushes b are clamped by bolts a<3>. Screws a<4>, passing through the bolts, hold the bushes firmly on distance-pieces c. The mould thus formed is submerged in the molten metal. Figs. 7 and 8 show another apparatus in which the core f is closed at the bottom and has the distance-pieces f<1> made integral with it. The bushes b are covered by asbestos &c. and clamped in semi-cylinders e, e<1> provided with lugs e<2> and guiding- pegs e<3> and held together by bars h and bolts h<1>, the joints being made tight by asbestos j. The molten metal is poured into the spaces d.
