1,258,186. Solid pigment compositions. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 26 Feb., 1970 [11 March, 1969], No. 12755/69. Addition to 978,242. Heading C4A. A solid pigment composition as in Specification 978,242 in which the pigment is a phosphotungstomolybdic acid lake of a basic dyestuff is produced by intimately mixing (a) a paste obtained by acidifying an aqueous suspension of the lake containing a quaternary ammonium salt of an alkylene oxide adduct of a long chain aliphatic amine, and (b) a paste obtained by acidifying an aqueous solution of a salt of a resinous substance which is at least 5% by weight soluble in an organic material to be pigmented, the weight ratio of pigment : resin being # 3 : 2, and treating the intimate mixture to soften the resin and then reharden it. The lake may be CI Pigment Red 81 or 82, CI Pigment Green 2 or CI Pigment Blue 1, and the resinous substance rosin (as in the example), a chemically-modified rosin or a synthetic polymer. -
