Abstract

1,257,792. Hinged container. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd. 17 April, 1969 [24 May, 1968], No. 24847/68. Heading B8P. A catch, which locks together two hinged sections, with side walls, of a container, comprises a resilient tab 3 extending from the side wall of one section provided with a projection, depression or slot engaging with a projection or depression on the side wall of the other section. Egg-retaining pockets are formed in one of the sections, termed as the base section 1. The tab is usually mounted on the other section 2 of the container, and has two projections 4 facing inward towards the side walls of the container. These projections engage in the recesses between the egg-retaining pockets of the base section, or with the flange 5 round the edge of the base section. The container may be made of moulded pulp, but is preferably constructed from an expanded thermoplastic resin such as polystyrene.
