Abstract
1,257,653. Surgical drainage apparatus. PHARMA-PLAST A.S. 3 April, 1969, No. 17690/69. Heading A5R. A beltless surgical drainage appliance comprises an attachment member for adhering to the skin of a wearer, the member defining an aperture, a flexible bag having an opening in one wall, and a connection member, also with an opening, secured to the bag, the connection member being adhesively coated for attachment to the attachment member, the aperture in the attachment member and the openings in the connection member and the bag being in register. The members and the bag are of polyvinyl chloride foil, and the connection member is secured to the bag by two endless, spaced, weld seams, surrounding the openings, the seams being formed by ultrasonic welding. The method of construction of the connections between bag and wearer are said to be very flexible and therefore prevent leakage occurring between these connections as a result of wearer movement.
