Abstract
1,256,577. Plug connector. THOMAS & BETTS CORP. 10 Sept., 1969 [13 Sept., 1968], No. 44738/69. Heading H2E. A plug connector 12 comprises a pair of conducting blades 21, 23, each with a pair of marginal flanges (26) Fig. 5 (not shown), separated by a film of insulation 24, and Fig. 4 (not shown), bonded to the blades. The blades and conductors 17, 19 are crimped by means of a pair of sintered powdered metal terminal fittings 30, 32, and a sleeve (36) Fig. 5 (not shown), to provide a gas tight connection, Figs. 7, 8 (not shown). The connector is shown mated with a receptacle 3 mounted behind a terminal board 10 supporting a moulded plastics plug 8 with a T-shaped slot (11) Fig. 3 (not shown), carrying the connector and a grounding wedge 14. Receptacles 3 may be pairwise interconnected by means of a strip cable (106) Fig. 1 (not shown), terminated by a pair of connectors (12) Fig. 1 (not shown). The blades 21, 23 may selectively be bent outwards to support bullet shaped contact pins (42, 44) Figs. 9, 10 (not shown). The flanges 26 may serve to support such a modified connector on a chassis member (50) Fig. 11, (50a) Fig. 12 (not shown), with tabs (52, 52a). The connector may have a square shank (60) Fig. 12 (not shown).
