Abstract

1,256,272. Reclaiming material from piles. CRONE & TAYLOR (ENG.) Ltd. 27 Feb., 1970 [15 March, 1969], No. 13729/69. Heading B8E. Material is removed from a stockpile M, Fig. 1, by driving a wedge-shaped member 10 into the stockpile by means of a winch and cable 21, 22, so that loosened material falls over the rear of the wedge on to a conveyer 18 which moves with the wedge and runs transversely thereto. As described two wedge members are provided back-to-back and each one extends laterally, Fig. 2. The conveyers 18 feed further conveyers 19 and hoods 23 are provided over the gaps between adjacent conveyers. The wedge members may be propelled by rams or pinions which engage a fixed rack. To disturb the material in the pile, agitators may be provided above the wedge member and the latter may be vibrated. The front edge of the wedge may be angled so that it enters the pile progressively.
