Abstract

1,256,165. Sack emptying apparatus. WELVO N.V. 15 Oct., 1969 [15 Oct., 1968], No. 50681/69. Heading B8C. An apparatus for emptying sacks containing particulate material comprises two rotors rotatable stepwise in opposite directions about shafts 2 and 3 each rotor including four carrier partitions 8 and 9 provided with upstanding hollow lances 10 and 11 having air outlets and a rotating knife 30 carried by a pivoted arm 31. Each carrier partition 8 and 9 consists of a plurality of parallel finger-like members (14, Fig. 2). These finger-like members (14) include upstanding retaining pins 12 and 13. Groups 17 and 18 of stationary stripper elements remove empty sack halves 38d<SP>1</SP> and 38d<SP>11</SP> from the finger-like members (14). Alternatively the stripper elements are rotatable on shafts parallel to the shafts 2 and 3 or the sack halves 38d<SP>1</SP> and 38d<SP>11</SP> are removed by making the hollow lances 10 and 11 retractable. The apparatus is totally enclosed in a dust-tight casing 1 with an inlet for full sacks, an outlet 28 for the particulate material passing through grids 25 and 26, and outlet channels 19 and 20 for empty sack halves 38e<SP>1</SP> and 38e<SP>11</SP>. Dust filters (36) are located before a fan 37 which maintains a partial vacuum within the casing 1. The sacks are loaded on to the rotors by a throwing conveyer (34).
