Abstract
1,237,720. Treating foundry sand; beater mills. ALFRED GUTMANN GES. FUR. MASCHINENBAU. 13 Dec., 1968 [21 Dec., 1967], No. 59401/68. Heading B2A. Apparatus for recovering foundry sand comprises breaker arms 9, Fig. 1, rotatable in the bottom of a casing 2 which has a perforated screen 15 in its side. The ends 10, 11 of the arms are bent. Lumps of moulded sand are introduced via a hinged lid 4 and cut up and thrown against the perforated screen. The sand is conveyed into a suction hopper 17 by an air current generated by a fan, comprising a disc 12 and arms 13, Fig. 3, under the arms 9. The binder and sand are separated by a centrifugal separator 19 and collected in a container 20, and the unwanted burnt binder and useless fines, after separation from the carrier air by a filter 21, are collected in a vessel 22.
